JustificationEnvironmental conservation/climate change, Gender Transformative Approaches, GBV, Livelihoods and Disability inclusion are components that can lead to conflicts in communities and mostly to the women and girls with disabilities if not well addressed. It is against this backdrop that IDIWA is organizing a three-days’ consultative meeting to develop a nexus between Environmental Conservation, GBV and Disability, and a three-days’ training on gender transformative approaches, environmental conservation/climate change, GBV, livelihoods and disability inclusion for 30 women and girls with disabilities, paralegals, and male champions. A MIDTERM EVALUATION REPORT : ELIMINATING SGBV AGAINST WGD’S PROJECT IN MAYUGE DISTRICT
Integrated Disabled Women Activities (IDIWA) undertook an evaluation of its work in the Elimination of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (E-SGBV) against Women and Girls with Disabilities (WGDs) project through an external evaluator. The evaluation covered a period of one and half years from the commencement of the project in Jan 2020. The project was evaluated against its targets and expected outcomes for the same period. This report presents the findings, implications, conclusions and recommendations.

Coronaviruses belong to a large family of viruses causing a wide spectrum of illness, ranging from very mild such as common cold to severe illness such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). Numerous other coronaviruses circulate among animals, including camels and some bat species. Rarely, some animal coronaviruses can evolve to cause illness in people. Sometimes coronaviruses may develop the ability to spread from person to person, for example MERS-CoV which was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012, and the SARS-CoV, first recognized in China in 2002. PROJECT BACKGROUND Project period, budget, beneficiaries and forms of violence The “Eliminating Sexual and Gender Based Violence Among women and Girls with Disabilities is a USD 439,663, three-year (Jan 2020 and Dec 2022), project implemented in six sub counties in Mayuge district in Eastern Uganda, and targeted girls and women with disabilities between 9 and 59 years, experiencing different forms of violence including but not limited to: ➢ Violence in the family including: intimate partner violence, physical violence, sexual violence, psychological and emotional violence, non- partner and economic violence ➢ Violence in the community including: violence by no-partners (rape/sexual assault), sexual harassment and violence in public places and institutions, violence in schools, workplace and public places Project Context The demographic and health survey conducted in 2016, indicated that Eastern Ugandahas the highest number of cases of GBV with an average of 74% cases. The SouthEastern Regional Police report reveal 1376 cases of GBV recorded in three months in2013, compared to the 2,385 cases registered in 2012. Most GBV cases includephysical and psychological abuse, sexual violence against women, sexual abuse andother abusive traditional practices, marital rape, dowry related violence, incest, nonspousal/child to mother attacks and violence related to exploitation and deprivationof freedom. Data from the U DHS 2016 shows that older women are more likely toreport having experienced recent SGBV than younger women aged 15 to 19. 13% to16% of older women and 5% of younger women reported recent sexual violence Purpose of the Evaluation The purpose of the assignment is to conduct an assessment of the overall project progress and results against the outcomes and indicators of achievement as per project target.
